If someone had told me at the beginning of this year that I’d be hand-mixing laundry detergent for families across our community, I would’ve smiled politely and told them they were crazy.
That wasn’t the plan.
In the early months of 2026, our lives changed overnight.
Everything I thought our future would look like disappeared in an instant. I was suddenly unable to work, and every single day became about one question:
“How are we going to make it through tomorrow?”
Some days that meant packing our things again. Some days it meant staying in a hotel. Other days it meant being welcomed into someone else’s home while we tried to figure out where life was taking us next.
As a mom, there’s no feeling quite like lying awake after your kids have fallen asleep, wondering how you’re going to keep everything together for one more day.
I carried that weight every single night.
But every night, before any of us went to sleep, my youngest daughter, Reya, would ask me the same thing.
“Mama… sing You Are My Sunshine.”
So I did.
Every single night.
No matter how scared I was…
No matter how exhausted I felt…
No matter how uncertain tomorrow looked…
I’d wrap my arms around my babies, sing those words, and in that moment I knew something.
I had done everything I possibly could for them that day.
Tomorrow could wait until morning.
Those few quiet minutes became our little piece of peace in the middle of everything.
That’s where SudShine was born.
Not in a factory.
Not in a business class.
But somewhere between loads of laundry, bedtime songs, and a mama trying her best to hold her family together.
What started as making laundry detergent for our own family slowly became something bigger. We spent evenings testing recipes, learning as we went, and letting little hands help whenever they could.
Today, every bucket is still handcrafted one at a time with the same love that carried us through those nights.
SudShine isn’t just about clean laundry.
It’s about hope.
It’s about finding purpose when life doesn’t go the way you planned.
It’s about showing our children that even after the hardest chapters, you can still build something beautiful with your own two hands.
If you’ve ordered a bucket, shared one of our posts, told a friend about us, or simply taken the time to read our story…
Thank you.
You aren’t just supporting a small business.
You’re helping a family write a brand new chapter.
With so much love and gratitude,
Randie (and my four little helpers)
Jayce, Mia, Kairi & Reya
